4 Years B.Tech in Marine Engineering
 
Overview : The Four years B.Tech Marine Engineering course is conducted under affiliation with the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). It is approved by The Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India and A.I.C.T.E., Govt. of India. It is a course leading to class IV Part A. Foreign Going Certificate of Competency awarded by the Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India, after 6 months of sea service, enabling the Junior Engineer to become certified Watch Keeping Engineer (Fourth Engineer) on board Merchant Ships. The Four Years Marine Engineering course is strictly residential. The educational and training programme is designed to inculcate officer like qualities and a high sense of discipline in the cadets.

About Marine Engineering :  Marine Engineering deals with design, operation and servicing of ship machinery and engines. Marine Engineering courses are associated with construction and maintenance of ships as well as other sailing vessel. The Marine Engineers are engaged is supervising engine crew involved in operating the machines. They also check smooth functioning of electrical motors, steam engines and propulsive engines, etc. The Marine Engineers continously take efforts to improve the efficiency of turbines, shipboards conventional steam, nuclear propulsion and mainly diesel engine.
